"Building tomorrow's global healthcare information infrastructure today"Theragraphics, Inc. deploys solutions for electronic health records based in part on technologies developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The OpenEMed project at LANL produces prototype technologies aimed at solving the complex technological problems involved with integrating distributed health records. The LANL team bases its solutions on open international standards for managing clinical information over wide area networks. These standards include specifications developed by the healthcare domain task force of the Object Management Group (OMG), an international not-for-profit consortium that develops specifications for interoperable computer software. LANL developed OpenEMed in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Health for use in biosurveillance activities.
Theragraphics deploys production level software that takes the OpenEMed framework beyond the research laboratory prototyping phase. By serving as a systems integration and support company, Theragraphics deploys commercial grade software, rigorously tested to meet the demands of healthcare providers.Theragraphics has played a leading role in several international healthcare standards activities including Health Level Seven (HL7) and the OMG. Theragraphics also participates in global medical missions projects aimed at making telemedicine more capable of meeting the needs of that half of the population of the world who have never seen a trained healthcare practitioner.
As a small business Theragraphics sometimes contracts on a number of projects unrelated to its core mission as a way of keeping up its cash flow. For example, Theragraphics sometimes contracts on software programing projects outside the scope of healthcare informatics. Theragraphics considers these projects as important as any other work it does even though the company does have a long term mission focus. Without these other projects, the company would not have survived to accomplish its long term goals.
